Coffee and TV delivered over 50 VFX shots for the five-part primetime BBC2 series ‘Wonders of the Monsoon’. This epic series reveals how life flourishes under the tumultuous monsoon weather system; which annually transforms a large part of our planet, from the Himalayas to northern Australia.
Using a specially developed proprietary Earth asset, the team were tasked with creating epic photorealistic views of the Earth to help explain the process of how the monsoon forms.
Series Producer, Paul Bradshaw, was keen to make the shots as scientifically accurate as possible so Coffee and TV decided to integrate real time-lapse cloud data supplied in collaboration with NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). The data set provided 25 images a day of global cloud data captured with an infra-red camera in high resolution.
Other shots included deep time-lapse views of the Earth showing the effect of the Monsoon on specific regions. The results are stunningly realistic, ground-breaking and innovative VFX shots that provide evocative images to enhance the dramatic narrative of this primetime series.
